June 2008

The 2008 winter sports season is now well underway and so is the South African winter if the chilly mornings are anything to go by! Excited spectators on the side lines, sipping at steaming cups of coffee, tea and hot chocolate are a regular sight at the early morning sports matches.

A big thanks to those of you who have submitted match reports over the recent weeks. I can assure you that your reports are regularly viewed by other Sportsrap members and site visitors. From the results it is interesting to see which teams are winning on a regular basis and also how some of the teams started off slowly, but have improved with each passing week. It just goes to show, practice does makes perfect and experience teaches us how to do it better.

Don’t forget that you can submit up to three action pics with your match reports. The pictures really add to the match report and also match reports with pictures are often used as featured match reports, which appear on the Sportsrap home page.

Have you tried viewing the Analysis web page? Use the various options to analyze a specific team’s performance against other teams in the same province or to view the performance of all teams for a particular school.

At Sportsrap our mission is to provide all South Africans with a free school sports reporting database. Sportsrap hase been running for nearly eighteen months and are featuring prominently on the various search engines. During this time over 450 match reports have been submitted and just over 55,000 pages have been viewed by site visitors. While this might sound like a lot of match reports and page views, it is nothing when one considers how many school sports matches are played in South Africa on a Saturday morning! Imagine if we could get all these results loaded into the Sportsrap database?

To survive in the long run Sportsrap needs to increase the number of match results available for viewing. More match results improves your viewing experience, which in turn will increase the number of page views. This all translates into making the site economically viable and keeping it running.

As existing and valued Sportsrap site members it would be appreciated if you would please continue submitting your match reports. I am also calling on you to encourage your friends and local schools to join Sportsrap and to submit their match reports. Using the Send “To A Friend” link when viewing match reports is an easy way to share the match reports with others and to also expose others to Sportsrap. Their participation and match report submissions would go a long way to achieving our goal - a free school sports reporting search engine.

Thank you for visiting our website and your return visits make all the hard work worthwhile.  Please continue submitting those sports reports and tell your friends and colleagues about Sportsrap.  Perhaps you could get your local school involved?  Together we can provide the premier sports scoreboard for South African school sports results.

As always, please write to us at news@sportsrap.net. We enjoy reading your emails and will do our best to address your queries and requests.

Train hard, work with your coaches and remember to encourage each other. Most important - have Fun and please tell us about your sports results.
